Secretary Information of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Ahsan Iqbal has said the boycott of opposition parties was neither any kind of match fixing nor any pre settled move.
Talking to media after the address of President Asif Ali Zardari to the joint session of the parliament at the commencing of fourth parliamentary year , Ahsan Iqbal said that boycott form the session is the strongest mode of protest in the history of parliament .
Responding to a question he said that to make noise in side the house was not a big issue but the main thing in this regard was the unity of entire opposition parties against the govt policies.
The main line of action of PML(N) is to adopt a joint strategy along with other parties of the opposition.
“PML(N) issued fact sheet about the first three addresses of President Zardari. We did not mention the recent address in it. Our party was the of the opinion that almost 99 percent of his pledges made during his first three speeches were not realized”, the PML(N) leader added.
He said that PML(N) has its own political agenda and the party does not follow other’s dictation. It is wrong perception that PML(N) left the open field for the President but it recorded its strong protest.
“We got the major objective as we achieved the unity of all the opposition parties first time ever in the history of the country. It will prove to be first step towards long partnership of entire opposition.”, he added.
He said that now government would have to ponder their policies as opposition is now moving towards its unity.
He said that the government exerted pressure on the opposition parties that they should ensure their presence in the house during presidential speech but by doing boycott the opposition parties they have given their message against government policies in a democratic manner.
