A Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to contact Interpol for the arrest of former president Pervez Musharraf in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.
The case hearing has been adjourned until the end of April.
During the hearing, the FIA submitted a report, stating it has contacted Britain regarding the arrest of Musharraf. The FIA said no progress has been made for the arrest of Musharraf, on which, the judge asked the agency to contact Interpol and present the accused on April 2.
The prosecution was to submit an application for declaring the former president a proclaimed offender, but the hearing was adjourned due to the absence of defence lawyers.
Pakistan had earlier sought the Commonwealth’s cooperation in extraditing former president Pervez Musharraf from Britain for his alleged involvement in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
