Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday categorically made it clear that Raymond Davis doesn’t enjoy diplomatic immunity and let the courts decide about the fate of the US national.
Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed these views while talking to host of lawyers at the Rawalpindi District Bar on Wednesday.
He opine that India is making lame excuses to solve lingering Kashmir dispute.
He said when he supported the Kerry-Lugar Bill, he was called an American agent and now he was being blamed for creating a rift with the US. “I was right at that time and I am right now also,” he asserted.
“I am neither a conspirator nor an intriguer but believe in politics with honor and dignity,” he added.
Qureshi said he had taken a principled stand on the issue of Raymond Davis that the court will decide this issue and the government too has taken the same stand, which proves his sincerity to the nation.
He said that we don’t want to spoil our relations with the US on the basis of one person Raymond Davis.
He said that he has visited United State twice as foreign minister while now dialogue process will be held in Islamabad, as it is the order of the day.
Regarding Pak-India dialogue process, Qureshi said that both the countries must sit together and chalk out new ideas and ways to settle the dispute.
Pakistan is a prudent nuclear nation and responsible enough to understand its commitments to regional security needs, and wanted good relations with global community including India, at all times, he pointed.
He further added that Pakistanis living abroad must lend a hand to pull the country out the prevailing financial dilemma.
